Scoring

Each varsity competition in which the Bobcats and RedHawks meet, including MAC tournament play, will be counted as part of the year's series record. Each sport will be worth one point towards an overall championship during the regular season. If teams meet more than once per regular season, the point will be divided according to the number of contests (i.e. - 4 baseball games played, each game is worth 0.25 points). If the two teams should meet in a MAC Tournament, that match-up would also be worth one point towards the overall championship. In the event that the two teams meet more than once in a tournament (in the case of double elimination), the point will be divided in the same way it is done in the regular season. With a potential annual total of no more than 32 points (in the event that Miami and OU met in every MAC Tournament competition) to be awarded, the first school to score over 16 points in a given year will guarantee themselves the rivalry trophy.

**In sports featuring an invitational format, such as cross-country, track and swimming, if a dual meet score between OU and Miami is officially calculated, such a score will be used to determine the winner of the competition for the purposes of the Battle of the Bricks. If an OU/Miami dual meet score is not officially calculated, but the invitational competition involved the participation of the full squads of each team, the winner for the purposes of the Battle of the Bricks will be determined by which team places better overall in the final invitational standings. If the competition does not include a complete squad of players on each side, such as an NCAA Cross Country Championship meet where only certain individuals have qualified to participate in competition, the results of the meet will not be factored into the Battle of the Bricks rivalry competition.
