Day 12 - Maria Leahy
Dear Fans,
Our last message about Brazil and there is still a lot to say! Miami University's Women's Volleyball Team spent the past twelve days growing in culture, athletics, and friendships. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all players and will surely be an experience none of us could forget.
We became closer friends with one another, players and coaches alike. Our understanding of volleyball as a sport deepened with every match, practice, and speaker. To try and sum up how we matured culturally would not do it any justice. However, I can say that Brazil is not just a memory for our team; it has become very close to our heart, and I'm sure there will be more "Brazil Trip 2007" journals in years to come by the future generations of Miami Volleyball.
Our departure from Brazil was upsetting. Not only were we leaving this beautiful country, we were saying goodbye to new friends. We miss the warmth and welcome that the players from Campinas showed our team. The saddest goodbye was the "see you soon (but not soon enough)" to Roger, a friend we met in Brazil. He had a great sense of humor (except for all those promises for ice cream-you sill owe us and we NEVER forget these details)!
Roger wrote to each girl saying...
Success
Hold on to your dream
It sweetens all your nights
Brightens up your days
Because dream is a compass
That shows only one aspired direction-
Success, Success, and more Success
Brazil was a huge success! We can never thank those who helped made it possible enough. Because of everyone's generosity, Miami University's Women's Volleyball Team will see the benefits of Brazil through our success in this upcoming fall season.
On behalf of Miami Volleyball Team and Staff thank you for coming along on our trip.
Tchau!
