RedHawk Women's Track and Field Wins Miami Team Challenge

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University women's track and field squad won the Miami Team Challenge on Saturday at the George L. Rider Track, defeating 13 visiting teams. The RedHawks scored 212 points while second-place Bowling Green had 92 points. Third-place Buffalo earned 88.5 and Ohio took fourth at 80 points. Margarita Pogorelov swept the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 11.85 and 24.64. Kristina Bolterstein won the high jump at 5-7, while Katelyn Kelly was fourth, clearing 5-5. Nicki Mitchell would take first in the triple jump with a bound of 37-2 ½, while Hope Alexander took third at 36-8 ½. Jessica DeWitt won the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:26.17. The RedHawk 4X100 relay team won with a time of 47.83, while the Miami 4X400 relay team won in a time of 3:57.82. Betsy Allen was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.71. Amanda Mirochna was second in the 800-meter run at 2:17.26 and also took second in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:35.52, while Jennie Stoll was sixth in the 1500 at 4:44.85. Laura Neufarth was second in the 5000-meters with a time of 17:09.28, while Rebekah Hollander was fifth at 17:43.77.
Alexis Lape was second in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.23, while DeLana Turner was third with a time of 14.34. Lape also took the 400-meter hurdles at 1:01.77, while Andrea Tepe was second at 1:03.37. Alisha Jones was third at 1:04.18 and Julia Dempster took fourth at 1:05.29. In the pole vault, Amanda Rhoades was second after clearing 11-1 ¾. Magda Wikar took second in the long jump, going 18-5 ¼, while Mitchell was fourth at 18-0 ½. Erin Frazer was fourth in the javelin with a mark of 126-8. Alisha Jones took sixth in that event at 123-7. The RedHawks next compete at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday and Saturday at the University of Cincinnati. |
