Results

BUFFALO, N.Y - Miami University's women's swimming and diving team scored 118 points in five events on Thursday and the RedHawks sit in fourth place heading into day three of the Mid-American Conference Championships. Miami has collected 182 points through two days, while Toledo leads with 252.5 points, followed by Ohio's 225 points and Eastern Michigan's 198 points.

The first final of the evening was the 500 freestyle and senior Kathryn Stephens earned the top finish for the RedHawks. Stephens finished in 12th place with a time of 5:00.21, while junior Maggie French and freshman Sarah Bullock capped off the scoring in the event with a 14th place finish and 16th place finish, respectively.

Sophomore Karen Frazier and junior Malarie Schmidt both qualified for the `A' heat of the 200 individual medley and Frazier scored 15 points for Miami as she recorded a fourth-place time of 2:04.49. Schmidt backed Frazier up with an eighth place time of 2:08.16, while senior Kristen Bezier scored two points with a time of 2:08.07.

Junior Allison Stevens notched Miami's top finish of the evening as she finished in second place in the 50 freestyle, recording a time of 23.25 seconds. Junior Alyson Schmidt added seven points with a 10th place finish in the 50 freestyle.

Switching gears to the diving events, Miami had three divers score points in the one-meter dive, led by junior Melissa Roemmele. Roemelle and sophomore Kelsey Anagnos finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively, with scores of 260.65 and 240.10. Junior Alex Enriquez was the other diver who scored points with a 13th-place finish and a score of 214.45.

In the final event of the evening, Miami's 200 freestyle relay team consisting of Stevens, Bezier, junior Jen Nemeth and Alyson Schmidt, finished in fifth place, adding 28 points to Miami's score.

Friday's preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. and the finals start at 7 p.m.
