Shane Meridith enters his first season as an assistant coach at Miami University after being hired on June 8, 2007. A former assistant at Ball State University and most recently Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Meridith brings nine seasons of college coaching experience to the RedHawk soccer program.

Meridith boasts a wealth of college coaching experience, including three seasons as an assistant and six as a head coach. Meridith's most recent stint as the collegiate level was during the 2003-04 season when he served as the women's assistant coach at IUPUI and helped the Jaguars earn the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for posting a team GPA of 3.19. Prior to IUPUI, Meridith spent two seasons as an assistant women's coach at Ball State (2000-01) and guided the Cardinals to 18 wins, including an 11-6-2 mark in 2001.

A former head coach at Division III Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., Meridith spent six seasons at the helm of the Quakers' women's program (1994-2000). Meridith compiled an overall record of 53-56-5 with the Quakers, including a pair of nine-win seasons in 1995 (9-10) and 1996 (9-8-2) and back-to-back seasons with double-digit wins in 1998 (10-7-1) and 1999 (11-5-2). Meridith's 1999 squad was the finest of his head coaching tenure, as it shutout 10 opponents en route to winning 11 games. Meridith also was named the 1998 North Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and served on the NSCAA Great Lakes Region and Coaches Ranking Committee.

In the club ranks, Meridith was the head coach of the Carmel United Soccer Club (2002), where he led the U-17 girls to their sixth consecutive State Cup title. In addition to working as the director of coaching at Cincinnati's Westside Soccer Club, Meridith has worked as a staff coach with the Indiana Youth Soccer Association (1994-2007) and has served as a Region 2 staff coach for the United States Youth Soccer Federation. Meridith has earned his USSF National "A" License.

Meridith was a four-year soccer letterwinner at Earlham College (1984-87) and was tabbed as the team's most improved player in 1985. Meridith was a two-time NAIA All-MidEast Selection, a two-time all-district honoree and the team's co-captain from 1986-87. Helping Earlham to a 53-30-4 mark during his college career, Meridith led the Quakers to the Collegiate Athletic Conference championship and Illinois-Indiana Collegiate Soccer Conference championship in 1984 and 1985 and a pair of NAIA District 21 titles in 1986 and 1987.

A native of Richmond, Ind., Meridith earned his bachelor's degree in education from Earlham in 1989 and has completed his coursework towards a master's degree in sports psychology from Ball State.
