OXFORD, Ohio - The Central Michigan University Chippewas defeated the Ball State Cardinals, 1-0, in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon in Oxford, Ohio.

Kim Erasmus scored the lone goal of the game for the Chippewas in the 48th minute off a blocked shot from teammate Samantha Sandham. Louise Gerike earned the win in goal for CMU with seven saves.

Tiffany Shifflett saved seven shots for the Cardinals in a losing effort.

Central Michigan outshot Ball State 27-10 and had 16 penalty corners to BSU's four.

Ball State ends its season at 5-12, while the Chippewas are now 6-13 overall.

Central Michigan will play top-seeded Ohio University on Friday at noon at the Miami Turf Field.
