Miami Women's Basketball Announces 2007-08 Schedule
Sept. 4, 2007
OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University announced today the release of the schedule for the upcoming 2007-08 women's basketball campaign. The RedHawks, who open with Notre Dame in the WNIT, play a challenging non-conference schedule that includes five games played in Millett Hall. "We've scheduled a very competitive preseason. Opening up with Notre Dame for the WNIT will set the pace for the season," 10th-year head coach Maria Fantanarosa said. "We believe that playing against great competition builds confidence, which ultimately prepares us for a strong Mid-American Conference slate." Miami plays Wright State in its home opener at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Despite playing three of their first four games on the road, the RedHawks play four of their next five games at home, including two back-to-back home dates versus Cleveland State (Dec. 1), Robert Morris (Dec. 5), Illinois State (Dec. 16) and IUPUI (Dec. 19). Miami will have 10 days off following the IUPUI game before participating in a tournament hosted by the University of Texas/San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas, Dec. 29-30. The RedHawks host Temple on Jan. 2, 2008, to conclude their non-conference schedule. Miami opens its conference schedule at home versus Buffalo (Jan. 9), while a home game against Akron (Jan. 16) is sandwiched between games at Kent State (Jan. 12), Ohio (Jan. 19) and Bowling Green (Jan. 22). During the MAC West Division portion of its schedule, Miami entertains Northern Illinois (Jan. 26), Western Michigan (Feb. 9) and Ball State (Feb. 13), while trekking to Eastern Michigan (Jan. 29), Central Michigan (Feb. 2) and Toledo (Feb. 16). The RedHawks close out the schedule with a key stretch of five re-matches versus MAC East rivals, beginning with a Feb. 20 away game at Buffalo. Three of Miami's final four regular-season games are at home, including back-to-back home dates with Bowling Green (Feb. 23) and Kent State (Feb. 27). The RedHawks finish their final week at Akron (Mar. 1) and Miami's home finale comes on Mar. 5 versus Ohio.
Miami returns 11 letterwinners and five starters to a team mixed with youth and experience. Four seniors highlight the list of returnees, including First-Team All-MAC recipient senior guard Amanda Jackson. 2007-08 MIAMI WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE |
