A member of Miami's staff since its Mid-American Conference Championship 2003-04 season, Heather Oesterle enters her fifth season with the Red and White, bringing a strong combination of playing and coaching experience. Her primary responsibilities entering this season include working with the RedHawk post players, as well as coordinating team travel and numerous other duties. Oesterle came to Miami after serving one season as a volunteer assistant coach for a Stanford University program that finished the season 27-5 and ranked among the Top 15 in the nation while advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Prior to her stint with the Cardinal, Oesterle was a four-year contributor for the University of Michigan women's basketball team. Oesterle served as the team captain in 2001-02 and was honored with the program's Leadership Award following her senior season. A native of Mason, Mich., where she was a Detroit Free Press Class A All-State selection as a high school senior, Oesterle set the Mason High School career scoring record with 1,451 points during her prep career. At Michigan, Oesterle, a 6-foot forward, helped the Wolverines to a four-year record of 76-45 (.628) that included two NCAA appearances. |
