CLEVELAND - Junior shortstop Jordan Petraitis and senior pitcher Matt Erwood were named Mid-American Conference East Division Player and Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced today.

Petraitis recorded a .400 hitting percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage as the RedHawks went 3-3 last wee. Collecting hits in all six games, Petraitis extended his hitting streak to 14 games. He went 10-for-25 at the plate with three doubles, three triples and two home runs on the week. He scored seven RedHawk runs and had a team-high-tying eight RBIs on the week, accounting for nearly 30 percent of Miami's scoring. Against Toledo in the Mid-American Conference opening series for both teams, Petraitis went 5-for-12 (.417) and had a 1.167 slugging percentage. He pounded out all three of his triples for the season over the weekend against the Rockets and added one of his three home runs for the year against Toledo, collecting one of his others earlier in the week against Lafayette. In Miami's 8-1 win against Toledo, Petraitis had two triples.

Erwood picked up his second win of the season, pitching 7.0 innings in a dominant 8-1 win against Toledo in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams. Erwood, posted a 0.00 ERA, giving up no runs and just three hits. He struck out four and allowed the Rockets just a .125 team batting average.

The RedHawks welcome Dayton to McKie Field at Hayden Park for a 6 p.m. start on Wednesday, March 26, before traveling to Ypsilanti, Mich. to play a three-game series against Eastern Michigan this weekend.
